The Hungry Fishermen
The Hungry Fishermen is located in the heart of downtown St. John's in the historic Murray Premises building. Constructed after the first Great Fire in 1846, the wooden structure features massive exposed beams and woodwork that showcases the traditional architecture of the day and provides a perfect setting for the seafood - themed restaurant.
Since opening in 1995, The Hungry Fishermen has acquired an enviable reputation for quality seafood, and Chef Paul Brown is especially particular about the ingredients he uses in his kitchen. Owner/operator Ray Bursey has been in the fishing business for more than 40 years and knows his seafood. All their fish is fresh from the ocean, no prepackaged or frozen items are used, and everything they do is "from scratch".
While the big demand is for seafood, the restaurant also provides a selection of other foods, from Cajun Chicken Pasta to Beef Tenderloin Bordelaise. All beef dishes are made with fresh, never frozen, Triple-A Beef.
Desserts at the Hungry Fishermen include an assortment of cheesecakes, tortes, and pastries as well as the restaurants signature dessert, Newfoundland Screech Pie.
The Hungry Fishermen serves dinner seven nights per week and lunch five days per week - Monday to Friday. Prices are very competitive for both lunch and dinner.
All major credit cards are accepted. |
